New Mexico Counseling Business Expands with Assistance from the Small Business Boost
The husband‑and‑wife team behind Inspire Psychiatry Services, a rural mental health agency offering psychotherapy, substance‑abuse treatment and child therapies, had already expanded twice since opening in 2023.
“There was so much demand that we didn’t have time to wait,” Mrs. Solberg said.
The couple was able to leverage a $97,500 Small Business Boost (SBB) loan from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) to help it buy a former insurance building that came up for sale.
SBB a secondary, unsecured loan from FHLB Dallas that is provided through FHLB Dallas members —in this case Western Bank. The SBB funds fill the gap between what an FHLB Dallas member can finance and the loan requested by the small business. Members use it to provide financing beyond their loan when there’s a lack of equity, a collateral shortfall or initial debt service challenges.
“As a community bank, we’re committed to helping small businesses,” Ms. Bush said. “They wouldn’t have been able to make this purchase without another source of financing. They had the cash flow to support the debt, but not the cash on hand to meet the down payment requirements without the SBB.”
“It was a miracle for us and all of our clients,” Mrs. Solberg said. “We were so grateful to be approved.”
