A $2 million Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) is helping Austin, Texas, residents experiencing homelessness take a step toward stability. 

The Roz, a new 100-unit apartment community, opened its doors to individuals who have spent months or years searching for an affordable place to live.  

The grant was part of $73.5 million in AHP General Fund grants awarded by FHLB Dallas through member institutions in 2025. Like all FHLB Dallas grants, the funds to The Roz were awarded through an FHLB member, in this case, Bank OZK.   

“This community meets people where they are and supports them for long-term success,” said Austin Housing Finance Corp. Treasurer Deletta Dean. 

The complex is designed specifically for residents earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area’s median income. 

“We value our collaboration with Austin Housing Finance Corp. and FHLB Dallas in supporting this development,” said Executive Vice President Patrick Russell, Bank OZK’s affordable housing relationship manager.  

The AHP can meet funding needs to get a project to the finish line, said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. 

“The AHP grant provided meaningful support that helped move The Roz forward at a critical stage,” he said.  “Through our relationship with Bank OZK, we are helping advance housing solutions that strengthen Texas communities.”
